“Chinja Upusuke” is a digital collage that explores the theme of adaptability and growth. The title "Chinja Upusuke" is a Bemba phrase that translates to "change to survive." The artwork features a young girl sitting on a black mountain made of newspaper cutouts bearing the phrase “Change to survive,” emphasizing the theme of the piece. The tree of clouds, growing out of her body, symbolizes the idea of growth and potential, as well as the connection between the individual and the natural world. The use of newspaper cutouts in the construction of the mountain adds an element of commentary on the role of the media in shaping our understanding of the world and the need for personal interpretation. The black color of the mountain represents the challenges and obstacles that we face in life, but the girl's presence on top of the mountain implies that with determination and adaptability we can overcome them.
